Joining the choir

Academy Singers does not have a formal one-on-one audition process, preferring instead to extend an invitation to attend up to four weekly rehearsals, during which time the Musical Director will make an assessment based on a number of criteria.
In general, the Director will be listening for overall choir balance and how your voice blends with others in the section. You must be able to sing at the correct pitch and in harmony with others, have good listening skills, take direction and, importantly, have the ability to control and minimise vibrato. Good sight reading skills are an advantage, but not essential. We provide voice-part audio tracks and other learning aids for most of our repertoire to assist in the learning process.
We rehearse weekly on Thursday evenings at Wentworth Falls during school terms, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Our fees are currently $135 per quarter. You will be contacted by our Secretary, who will invite you to attend the next rehearsal and provide you with further information about the application procedure.
